Overview

Ditch the crowded streets of Manali for the rustic charm of Jibhi and Tirthan Valley. Often called the "Hidden Paradise," Jibhi is an offbeat hamlet in the Kullu district, characterized by its traditional Kath-Kuni architecture, apple orchards, and pine forests. Located at 7,000 ft, this valley is the gateway to the Great Himalayan National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and offers the perfect blend of tranquility and adventure.

Trip Highlights

  • Chooi Waterfall Trek: A refreshing hike through dense forests in the Tirthan Valley to witness a majestic hidden waterfall.
  • Jalori Pass (10,800 ft): Stand at the top of one of India's steepest motorable passes for a 360° view of the snowy Himalayas.
  • Serolsar Lake: Hike through thick oak forests to reach a pristine lake protected by the local deity Budhi Nagin.
  • Mini Thailand: A hidden rocky canyon with crystal clear blue water, perfect for an offbeat photo session, also known as Kulhi Katandi.
  • Riverside Stays: Enjoy your nights in cozy wooden cottages or riverside camps with bonfires and music.

Mythological Local Lore: The Legend of Budhi Nagin

The Serolsar Lake is not just a body of water; it is a sacred site. According to local lore, the lake is the abode of Budhi Nagin, the mother of all Nag (serpent) deities in Himachal. Locals believe the lake is bottomless and its water is so pure that even if a leaf falls into it, the birds of the forest immediately pick it up to keep the surface pristine. No one is allowed to bathe in the lake to respect the deity’s presence.
